University of Nebraska Omaha

The University of Nebraska-Omaha or University of Nebraska at Omaha (you can call it UNO as well, if you want) is one of the five educational establishments associated with the University of Nebraska system. It is also interesting to note that of all the universities established in the system, the University of Nebraska Omaha is the second largest campus (following the University of Nebraska-Lincoln). In fact, the University of Nebraska Omaha is the second largest institution for education in the entire state of Nebraska.

In 1908, the University of Nebraska Omaha was founded as the University of Omaha; it became the Municipal University of Omaha some twenty-three years later. It would only be in 1968 that it would become assimilated into the University of Nebraska system and take in the name University of Nebraska Omaha.

It used to be that only students who can commute from within Omaha could conveniently study in the University of Nebraska Omaha. But as of late, they have established dorms and housings for students from outside the city. This, of course is a good thing since the University of Nebraska Omaha is well-known for its solid educational courses and programs that are mostly geared towards the importance of the academe. Today, it is distinguished as the one campus (among all the others associated with the system) that has the most ranked programs.
