Scottsbluff Nebraska

Having been told of plans to have a Nebraska vacation (that may inevitably become a road trip), I’ve decided to pull out my map of Nebraska and play that little game I used to play. After several tries, I landed on a name that I never landed on before: Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Interesting.

So, Scottsbluff Nebraska is a city in – wait for it – Scottsbluff County, Nebraska. How did I know that? In any case, it’s the twelfth largest city in the United States. It is largely associated with another city – Gering, which I may or may not write about at a later date – but is nevertheless its own city. Despite being the county’s namesake, however, it is Gering and not Scottsbluff, Nebraska that happens to be the county’s county seat.

Anyway, despite the seemingly boring existence of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, I must point out that they have some really good attractions that should not be snubbed by tourists, such as the Scottsbluff National Monument (which was a major landmark used by the Pony Express) and the Riverside Park and Zoo (which has a good collection of healthy exotic animals).

Being a bit of an animal person – and seeing that the adorably asleep Bengal tigers were posted on the homepage of their official website – I’m going to have to say that for the zoo alone, I’ll go to Scottsbluff Nebraska in a heartbeat.
