Nebraska Wesleyan

Nebraska Wesleyan University, fondly called NWU by students, is one of the private universities in the state of Nebraska; the campus stands in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Nebraska Wesleyan is also called a coeducational establishment, in that it was one the few private universities that allowed men and women to share educational facilities from the get-go. The university’s curriculum is said to be primarily focused on the liberal arts (that is, general knowledge and the like; lead up to Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degrees). Today, it is ranked as the top liberal arts college in the state.

The Nebraska Wesleyan was first established in 1887 by a group of Nebraska Methodists. There were only ninety-six enrolled students at the time; and the staff (including teachers and administrators) only totaled up to eight. Nevertheless, their first and second batch of graduates (four women in 1890 and four mean in 1891) supposedly went on to lead successful and happy lives. The Nebraska Wesleyan received its accreditation in 1914.

The Nebraska Wesleyan offers thirty-nine minor courses and forty-eight major courses, as well as three graduate courses: Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Forensic Science and Master of Arts in Historical Studies.
