Nebraska Hunting
As some of you may well know, I am a very strange person. On the one hand, I am very tolerant and laid back about most things. On the other hand, I could be very passionate about some other things (like being laid back). One of the things that I get really passionate about is Nebraska hunting policies. While hunting in general makes me wince, I have an understanding that hunting – particularly Nebraska hunting – can’t be all that bad. After all, a good number of my male relatives are into hunting, and hunting seasons here are revered as holidays by my folks.
In any case, despite my being squeamish about the activity, I still find it good that there are Nebraska hunting regulations that protect some of the more endangered species here in our state. I know that killing is killing to some of you (and I agree with you to some extent) but I’ve learned to look at the situation like this: hunting is a kind of right of passage, and it is, in some ways, a method of coming to respect a certain animal. At least, that’s how it is with my folks and Nebraska hunting. I suppose I could be happy with that, and the fact that the protected species are left out of this.
