Nebraska Department of Roads
I’ve been thinking a lot about that road trip that may or may not happen a lot. And wouldn’t you believe it? Thinking about that had me thinking about a lot of other things as well. Like the Nebraska Department of Roads. It suddenly occurred to me that the folks working at the Nebraska Department of Roads are people that we should be thanking for their hard work. Without them, Nebraska highways will likely not give us the smooth rides and trips that we enjoy (I swear, I don’t find Nebraska highways all that stressful to drive on at all).
I heard from a friend who has connections within the Nebraska Department of Roads that the markings on the highways (such as the lines that help with guiding the traffic) are repainted on a regular basis to avoid “accidents that are caused by unclear demarcation of boundaries”. I think that’s the technical term for “they protect us by keeping signs clear”. On top of that, the Nebraska Department of Roads makes sure that we don’t encounter any dangerous features on the roads that we drive on, such as bumps and little potholes that mare the road’s surface. As with the boundaries, the road surfaces are maintained for our own safety.
So we really shouldn’t complain if we have to endure a bit of hassle when they work on the roads.
