Nebraska City
Nebraska City is a city in Nebraska that could be found in the Otoe County of the State of Nebraska. Despite being named after the state, it has never been considered in history as one of the state’s official capitals – even though it was considered for the title. Today, it is mostly known all over the world as the birthplace of Arbor Day, that holiday wherein everyone is encouraged to plant trees (today, Arbor Day or something like it is celebrated in many countries all over the planet).
Lewis and Clark were said to have passed through Nebraska City’s territory in 1804, and it was also the supposed original site of Old Fort Kearney. Nebraska City, however, only had its first settlers sometime around the 1850’s. Nebraska City, along with Kearney City, was officially incorporated by settlers in 1855 following the signing of the Kansas-Nebraska Act.
By 1958, Nebraska City had freighters transporting goods and the like from Nebraska city to the western forts. With the help of Russell, Majors and Waddell, Nebraska City’s ideal location and trails were recognized as important in the transport business. Since then, Nebraska City has become a premiere local economic hub in the area.
