Kearney Nebraska
Kearney, Nebraska is a city in Nebraska that serves as a county seat for the Buffalo County of the state. Fondly called by many as “The Heart of Nebraska”, Kearney, Nebraska also plays home to one of the University of Nebraska’s educational establishments: the University of Nebraska-Kearney (also known as UNK). This “heart of Nebraska” is regarded by many as somewhat special, in that it apparently sits smack dab in the middle of the United States of America – right between San Fransisco and Boston. Although locals in the area are mostly white, Kearney, Nebraska is one of the most welcoming cities in the country.
Named for a nearby fort that was in turn named after General Stephen Kearny, Kearney Nebraska has reportedly only started to display significant growth as a city and community recently. Currently, it seems to be expanding itself both in population and area, with an economy based both on service and construction.
Places of note in Kearney, Nebraska (apart from the University of Nebraska-Kearney) include the Museum of Nebraska Art, the FirsTier Events Center and the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument. Kearney, Nebraska is also home to Junior Hockey League winning team the Tri-City Storm.
