Hastings Nebraska

As it turns out, I have cousins from Hastings, Nebraska. Well, to be more specific, I have distant cousins from distant New York City who very recently moved to Hastings, Nebraska because they felt that New York is getting a little too troublesome (they would laugh every time they say this, and I have no idea why). In any case, they showed up during our family’s annual Clan Crash, which happens on whichever holiday most of the relatives agree on. This year, it was the day of New Year’s Eve.

They wouldn’t shut up about Hastings, Nebraska. Not that it was bad at all; it gave me stuff to write about here, didn’t it? Anyway, apparently the main reason they chose to move to Hastings, Nebraska is that apparently it was the birthplace of Kool-Aid on top of being Yahoo’s Greenest City in America. While I failed to see how those two trivia connected, it seemed to satisfy them – and that amused me.

At the end of the Big Bash, I actually found myself part of that handful of people that those cousins of mine invited to stay over in their new apartment in Hastings, Nebraska. I’m far from complaining – they may be weird, but they’re nice and I’ve always wanted to have a closer look at the Fisher Rainbow Fountain.
