Fremont Nebraska

On a lark, I threw that dart at my map of Nebraska on the wall again and found it smack dab in the middle of Fremont, Nebraska. Which is why I’m writing about it now before I move on to other things.

Fremont, Nebraska is the county seat of Dodge County. It’s pretty close to Omaha, actually. In any case, I’ve decided that it’ll be one of the places that Lily and I will be stopping over in if we ever do get around to hauling our butts up for the road trip that never seems to happen. For one thing, I actually want to experience the Fremont Dinner train (which my buddy Dan said was awesome), which is supposedly one of the best train experiences anyone can have in Fremont, Nebraska. Downtown Fremont, Nebraska would make my souvenir shopping for my father really easy as well – there are supposed to be tons of antique shops there, and I know how Dad loves antiques. And I won’t even BEGIN to babble about the Victorian house they call the Louis E. May Historical Museum.

I’m thinking we should drop by around July, when they’re celebrating John C. Fremont Days. I hear there’s a rodeo in Fremont, Nebraska around that time.
