Columbus Nebraska

To stave off boredom, I decided to go back to doing that dart and map thing that I do. That, at least, might help me figure out if I really am up to that road trip Lily and I were planning. So the forward the dart flew…and suddenly I’m in Columbus, Nebraska. Now, remember what I said? That for a Nebraska girl, I know zilch about other places in Nebraska? Well I’m happy to say that I actually know a thing or two about Columbus, Nebraska.

Columbus, Nebraska could be found in Platte County, and a type of city I prefer to call Park Central. Obviously, this has a lot to do with the fact that Columbus, Nebraska has some really great parks (fourteen, to be precise) like Centennial Park – which has an archery range that I’m dying to visit – and Pawnee Park, which is called the “Picnic Capital of Nebraska”. Obviously, I’m penciling Columbus, Nebraska in as a major stop in our theoretical road trip. I called Lily up and asked her how she felt about taking a trip to Columbus, and her response was a hearty “Heck, yeah” before she pointed out that it shouldn’t be part of the road trip because we’d probably be sucked into staying for more than a week.

She has a point, actually, but I don’t think I can afford one trip to Columbus, Nebraska and one road trip all over the state.
