Bellevue Nebraska
Because I suddenly realized that lately I’ve been meeting folks from all over the state, and some of those places I’ve never even heard of before, I’ve decided to make a game out of it. I close my eyes, throw a dart at a map of Nebraska, and write a little something about whatever city it lands on. So congratulations, Bellevue, Nebraska! You’re our city of the entry.
Bellevue, Nebraska is the oldest city of the state and it apparently used to be a fur trading post. I find it frankly impressive that it’s actually grown to be the third largest city in Nebraska, considering the fact that it’s died once before and that it actually almost turned into a ghost town during the late nineteenth century. It was thanks to the initial building of the Bellevue University and Fort Crook that saved it from certain death. Now, Bellevue, Nebraska is thriving with much thanks to the Kennedy Freeway which has inspired construction, and Hayworth Park which is a local attraction.
With a name like “Bellevue”, you’ll be happy to know that it STILL has some really beautiful sights connected to it, although they’re quite different from the ones that inspired its name. It used to be sprawling nature and horizons; today, while nature is still there, there will be city skylines that fringe the horizon.
